"Be joyful always; pray continually;

give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

1 Thessalonians

5 v 16-18

Tabi Burgess triumphs twice in one month!

Tabi  - who is 12 later this month - has recently won two cross-country races representing Emmaus.

On November 20th, Tabi competed in the West Wiltshire Cross Country Championships. 73 runners from 9 schools entered the Year 7 race (John of Gaunt, Clarendon, St Augustine's, St Laurence, Warminster, George Ward, Stonar, Matravers and Emmaus). The race was over a hilly 2.5km course at Stonar School.

Tabi started slowly, but caught up

the leader at around the halfway mark.

She then pulled away and built up a big lead,

eventually triumphing by over 80 metres.

Then, less than a week later, she repeated the success over the same course. The top 20 runners re-ran the race to select the top ten runners. They will run for West Wiltshire against the rest of Wiltshire County in January next year at Grittleton House School. Tabi won this race by 50 metres.

The picture on the left shows Tabi receiving a Gold Medal from Helen Marshall, of John of Gaunt School and Secretary of Wiltshire Athletics Association.

Several teachers asked about Emmaus School following the presentation of awards.

Congratulations to Tabi from everyone at Emmaus!
